Happy Campers

My two campers had quite the time stamping and scrap booking on Tuesday. We created birthday cards using washi tape and the new STAMPIN'UP!  Chalk Talk stamp set.  They also began working on their This and That journals. This week the theme is BFF. I will post their creations after camp. It is so fun working with these young ladies!

I made this card today while I worked on camp cards for my campers. I think it needs a strip of grey ribbon on the left side near the edge of the doily. What do you think?

Scrappin'N'Stampin Summer Camp

Thank you!

Thank you. Two little words that have such an impact on our everyday lives. I do say thank you quite a bit, but I think adding a little treat makes the sentiment even more enjoyable. Think hard about the people you see everyday. Could they use a heartfelt thank you? My thank you list is growing longer each day. With the end of the school year, I feel it is important to recognize people I work with each day that help me, give great advice, and yes, are there when I need to vent a bit. I also have many students that have given me handmade cards, chocolate, and other assorted goodies throughout the school year who deserve a special thank you. I was raised and am raising my children to understand the graciousness and importance of thanking others. Some people may think it's old-fashioned to write thank you letters, but I strongly believe it is an art that should be taught and practiced.

 

This is a cutie that holds a tea bag on the inside. Once again I have used my go to Secret Garden set! I promise I have many other stamps, but this one is just so fun to use. The STAMPIN'UP! Honeycomb embossing folder really adds just the right touch to the background.

 

 

The Top Note die is a blast to create with in my opinion. I plan on attaching small cellophane bags filled with Jolly Ranchers. Just slide the "card" over the top of a bag and staple. It is as easy as that. This die is very versatile. If you search on the net and type in STAMPIN'UP! + top note die + images, hundred of ideas and projects will magically appear. I especially love some of the really cool Halloween projects created with this die. There are so many talented people who are willing to share their ideas. Thanks everyone!

 

 

First Stamp Camp

Last week I had my first two stamp camps. Several friends from school came to give stamping a try. These are the projects we completed.

Marla, a friend and fellow teacher, loves, loves, loves butterflies. It was a treat to see her get excited over this image and its coordinating punch. I have to confess this stamp set, Papillon Parade, is one of my favorite sets too. We added a little bling to the body with Stampin'Up! Jewel Rhinestones. A girl has to have her bling! She told me later in the week her daughter found her stamp camp projects and paid her a big compliment on her creativity.



 

This is a diaper fold goodie holder. It can be filled with little treats. We embossed the image at camp and also added an Itty Bitty banner. Campers were very impressed with the versatility of the Secret Garden stamp set and coordinating framelits that cut the flower images out so quickly and easily with the Big Shot die cutting system. The ladies also created a birthday card just like my son's card in my previous post. Everyone assured me they enjoyed their stamp camp experience and are awaitng my summer card buffets!

Milestones

Our son turns eighteen on Sunday. In a few short months he will be off to college to pursue his dreams of becoming an architect. This has been his passion since he was three years old. When my children were little, we went to the library every week for books. Nick chose to wander around in his "second home" while I looked for books. Somehow he wandered over to the architecture book section. We went home that day with a pile of books! At eighteen years old, he has quite a collection of acrchitecture books; he spends hours poring over these.

This is the card I created for Nick. I plan on using this design for a stamp camp next week. The little party hats are so fun to make! Below is the cake I made; it's nothing fancy, but I got to play with my Pennant Parade stamps and Pennant Parade punch. The little banners are from the Itty Bitty Banner stamp set. I love the ease of stamping an image and having a punch to "cut" it out.

As summer looms in the near distance, my students are a a bit distracted. I admit I am too. I want to get out in the sunshine and dig in my garden. So my Friday begins with a promise to myself: create a garden for someone else! If  Mr. Brown rings my bell today, I will have the one thing I will need to provide the finishing touch to my "garden" cards:my butterfly stamps and the coordinating punch. Yippee-skippee! A World of Talent

Last night I attended the school art show. Stephanie Bruce does an amazing job with her students. Walking around and seeing the immense amount of talent portrayed in one room brought tears to my eyes. Some of the best pieces were created by students who normally, for a variety of reasons, don't perform well in their academics. However, Stephanie has managed to reach these kiddos and help the "get the art out" in a great way.

I can't profess to be as great an art teacher as Stephanie, but I will do my best to help you release your inner creativity. It's there, inside, trapped in some of you. Don't look at other 's work to measure your talent. Appreciate it, yes, but don't let it stop you from feeling excited to try something new!

If you look at your stamp camp invite, you will notice two sessions on Friday. Jan Martin and her crew have reserved Session 1. I will keep you posted on sessions as they fill up. 

Weekend Wonders

 

I love the sentiments in the "A Round Array" stamp set. I stamped the image and then used my 7/8th" scallop circle punch to punch out the sentiment.

 

 This Thank U sentiment is also from the "A Round Array" stamp set. I love the clear mount option; it's easier for me to see exactly where I am stamping!

 

 Can you see the cute little polka dots on the card base? I used the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder to create a dotted background. I sponged gumball green over the dots for a distressed look. The flowers were created using the "Secret Garden" stamps and coordinating framelet set. This particular sentiment could be used to cover a variety of card giving occasions.

Stamp Camp is almost here! I can hardly wait to share what I am so excited about. Remember to RSVP for a session that works best for you. I think it would be fun if you coordinate with a few friends and sign up for the same session. Five is the maximum number for any session, so don't wait!

Newest Passion

My newest passion is stamping! I signed up to be a Stampin'Up! demonstrator in March, and I can't wait to share my new found passion with everyone. I remember when I was attending Indiana University and living with my best friend, Leigh, in a house in the poorest part of town (that's a whole other post). We were sitting in the living room and I was cutting colored paper out for a project for an education class. Leigh jokingly stated that the only reason I wanted to be a teacher was so I could cut and paste all day. Well, part of what she said is true. I do enjoy designing projects that involve artistic components. Through the years these projects are what the kids remember most. And that is a good thing!

My family will tell you I am always in the midst of a project, or two. My project this month is to get my business up and running, so I am creating some fantastic projects to share with you at my Stampin'Up! Stamp Camp Weekend Workshop the weekend of May 24 and  May 25. Stay tuned for more details and pictures of projects guests will make at the open house.
